Expressair, the Heathrow Airport (UK) express company offering sameday deliveries in the UK, Europe and the USA, has launched a real time Internet service in association with web specialist NetDespatch. Expressair customers can now book and track their consignments worldwide by simply connecting to the Expressair website from any PC or web-enabled device.

Expressair has worked with NetDespatch to provide their customers with a range of special features to handle the complexities of international services. This development has given Expressair a key advantage by offering advanced facilities previously only available through the largest multi-national carriers.

NetDespatch provides securely hosted web-based software for use by transport companies on a 'pay-per-order' basis. For Expressair, this has meant that a fully integrated booking and despatch system has been introduced with virtually no capital cost.

Using the new service, Expressair customers complete a simple on-screen booking form that incorporates an address book function that automatically remembers delivery addresses to speed up and simplify booking. Expressair receive the details instantly via the Internet into their despatch system; with all details pre-entered, efficiency is boosted and data entry errors, that sometimes occur when typing from a phone call, are eliminated.

Expressair do not see web booking strictly as an alternative to traditional booking by telephone. It is however seen as really useful for the many regular 'repeat' bookings, as it greatly speeds up the whole booking process. Web services are a also a key selling - point for winning new business as the service allows customers to check on the latest status of their delivery, 24 hours a day, without having to call.
